'Summer' is a Gippsland Lakes resident female. Her family lineage shows multiple generations of Gippsland Lakes resident females, with her mum Nicola (GL206), and her little sister Nutta (GL111).
We use these marks on the dorsal fin to identify each Burrunan dolphin in our resident populations. They act as a unique ‘FINgerprint’ and allow us to track the dolphins through space and time, and identify close associations!
