EDUCATION PROGRAMS
ABOUT OUR PROGRAMS
The Marine Mammal Foundation’s innovative and ground-breaking Education Programs combine real, applied research to student learning. Our programs integrate a range of topics with a focus on marine mammals and our own watery backyard!
Programs align with the current Australian science curriculum, addressing the cross-curriculum priority of sustainability under the organising ideas of systems (OI.1), world views (OI.4, OI.5) and futures (OI.6, OI.7, OI.8, OI.9).
Incursions include the relevant theory and an interactive practical component or workshop, where students use recent scientific literature and real biological data from our research programs.
All our programs can be modified for alternative age groups or education levels. Easy, no fuss incursions - everything provided.
Primary School Education Programs
60-minute primary school incursions tailored to the next generation of budding marine biologists and conservation enthusiasts!
Secondary School Education Programs
60-75 minute interactive secondary school incursions delivered by qualified scientists and experienced science communicators.
Community Education Programs

Online and Virtual Education Programs

We have had fantastic feedback from science teachers and students alike
“I learnt so much about what I can do to help save whales and dolphins, like recycling, not dropping rubbish and having a drink bottle.”
— Grade 4 Student
“It was nice to do something different to what we normally do in science”
— Year 9 Student
“Our students found the activity interesting, the content challenging, and the MMF instructor motivated the students to learn.”
— Grade 7 Science Teacher
“I really enjoyed trying to match the fins to the dolphins and it was interesting to see what you could do with the data that was recorded.”
— Year 9 Student
