EDUCATION PROGRAMS

ABOUT OUR PROGRAMS

The Marine Mammal Foundation’s innovative and ground-breaking Education Programs combine real, applied research to student learning. Our programs integrate a range of topics with a focus on marine mammals and our own watery backyard!

Programs align with the current Australian science curriculum, addressing the cross-curriculum priority of sustainability under the organising ideas of systems (OI.1), world views (OI.4, OI.5) and futures (OI.6, OI.7, OI.8, OI.9).

We have had fantastic feedback from science teachers and students alike

“I learnt so much about what I can do to help save whales and dolphins, like recycling, not dropping rubbish and having a drink bottle.”

— Grade 4 Student

“It was nice to do something different to what we normally do in science”

— Year 9 Student

“Our students found the activity interesting, the content challenging, and the MMF instructor motivated the students to learn.”

— Grade 7 Science Teacher

“I really enjoyed trying to match the fins to the dolphins and it was interesting to see what you could do with the data that was recorded.”

— Year 9 Student
