The Marine Mammal Foundation is excited to announce our project application ‘Making Waves: Marine Science and Sustainability Education for Victorian Schools’ has been successful in the Victorian State Government Department of Education Strategic Partnership Program (SPP) for 2024 and 2025.

The aim of the SPP is to support curriculum enrichment and enhancement programs that improve student achievement across Victorian curriculum and/or teacher capacity. SPP funded programs will provide opportunities that are not usually available in mainstream classrooms or professional development settings and enrich the learning experience of Victorian students. SPP Programs support students to expand their skills and knowledge, build their confidence in learning, strengthen their engagement with the Victorian curriculum, help students find their voice and broaden their experiences and interests, and expand teacher capabilities to deliver curriculum aligned programmes that improve student outcomes.

Through our project, ‘Making Waves: Marine Science and Sustainability Education for Victorian Schools’, we will deliver over 150 classroom and online incursion and learning programs to students in State Government primary and secondary schools across Victoria. Our project aims to provide equitable access to real-world science education, specifically targeting disadvantaged and low socio-economic schools, students, and communities for participation in our education programs and incursions. Importantly, many regional and rural schools do not have access to such programs, and through our holistic in-person and online suite of programs, we will be able to engage students across the state to inspire the next generation of scientists, conservationists and change-makers through our range of hands-on and inquiry-based learning opportunities.

This successful funding application demonstrates the impact and success of MMF education programs, establishing MMF as a leading science and sustainability education provider. We are excited to begin delivery of this program, and expand the engagement of our world-leading education programs across the state.

The opportunity for participation in our SPP program is open to all Victorian Government State schools. To contact MMF and submit an expression of interest, please head to our SPP webpage.
