Dolphin Detectives

  • The Marine Mammal Foundation is a world-leader in marine mammal research, and our Dolphin Detectives program invites the next generation of marine scientists to learn what it’s like to study these amazing animals!

Across a range of activities, participants will be taken on the journey of discovery of the Burrunan dolphin, and introduced to the incredible marine mammal diversity of Victoria. Participants will learn how MMF researchers use dolphin dorsal fin identification to tell our dolphins apart, and track them through space and time. Getting hands-on, participants will use this knowledge to collect data of the Burrunan dolphin population, and identify our resident and transient dolphins, and what we can do to ensure this Critically Endangered species is protected for generations to come!
