Welcome to the Marine Litter Project online course! Through the interactive modules, you will be introduced to the marine mammals that inhabit our local marine environments and learn about them in-depth. You will also be taken on the journey of discovery of Australia’s newest dolphin species, the Burrunan dolphin, and the scientific research undertaken by the Marine Mammal Foundation, including what we know, how we identify our dolphins, and what we can do to make a difference.

This course will also demonstrate the connection between our local communities and marine environments. Whether you live close to the ocean, in a city, or distant to marine environments, we will show how what we each do in our homes, schools and communities can impact marine environments both close and far.

You will also learn about the negative impact litter and waste can have on these environments and the animals who live there. You will explore the reasons why litter and waste is such an issue, and how we can all make a positive difference to the care and conservation of our local marine environments.

Before starting this course, we would like to gain a better understanding of what you already know about marine environments, marine mammals, and the litter issue. The following questions will provide us with your current level of understanding of these themes, and allow us to provide you with the most enjoyable learning experience possible. There are no right or wrong answers for these questions, so please answer them as honestly as possible. We hope you enjoy the course!
