Vessel Appeal – Goal Reached!!

Vessel Appeal – Goal Reached!!

We have awesome news to share with you! We have reached our goal of $20,000 that allows us to fully own our research vessel “Kirby”!

We would like to give special thanks to all those that contributed. We received very generous donations and are humbled with the community support and belief in what we are doing and achieving!

Kirby has already spent many hours on the water conducting research in Port Phillip Bay and the Gippsland Lakes.

For the last four years we have been reliant on hiring other vessels, at a considerable cost, to get us out on the water to undertake our vital applied research. By having our own research vessel we now have the flexibility of timing to undertake our ongoing research surveys, allowing us to take advantage of good weather days and/or reports, fast response to incidence (such a stranding events) and making us more easily identifiable as a research organisation whilst out on the water. Whilst not shiny and new, it is a solid, serviceable and fit for purpose research vessel.

MMF is a small not-for-profit ACNC Registered Charity organisation making amazing contributions to applied research, education, outreach and the conservation of marine mammals and their environment. Rest assured you will know that every contribution to MMF goes a long way to achieving our big mission! Every little bit counts and we thank you for your continuing support.

All donations or gifts over $2 are tax deductible.
