Outreach & Education Coordinator
We are pleased to announce that the Marine Mammal Foundation’s Marine Litter Project is the Community Led Project Litter Awards Winner of the Keep Victoria Beautiful Sustainable Cities Awards 2020! We are so incredibly excited and proud to have received this incredible award.
Our Marine Litter Project combines unique education with hands-on action initiatives to inspire appreciation of our local watery backyards through fostering a connection with amazing marine mammals, highlight the impact of litter to marine environments, and empower positive individual and community action. From simple actions such as collecting litter and making sustainable consumer choices, to running an awareness campaign initiative within local communities, we can all make a positive difference to reduce litter and marine debris.
This award not only recognises the incredible hard work and dedication of the Marine Mammal Foundation Team, but also the community groups, clubs, schools and organisations who have participated in Marine Litter Project activities across Victoria. It is so inspiring to engage with students, children and communities across Victoria to share our love for marine mammals and the marine environment, while also demonstrating how each of us can individually and collectively work to ensure what we do today creates a better tomorrow!
In receiving this award, we would like to acknowledge the support of our funding partners for their contribution to the development and delivery of the Marine Litter Project, including the Victorian State Government, Sustainability Victoria, Coastcare Victoria, and Bayside City Council. We would also like to congratulate all the other award winners and nominees on their incredible achievements.
